I am Back!

February 26, 2003

Credit where Credit's due.

I hate to have to praise CNN, but alas, I have to. CNN was the only news network not to carry the Robert Blake murder trial, focusing instead on such minor issues as the economy, war, stuff like that. Fox and MSNBC would be smart to take their lead. First of all, the story is small potatoes these days. Second, when all three networks put live coverage on such a minor event, they turn off viewers. Because CNN didn't cover the story, they probably attracted viewers from Fox and MSNBC who were turned off by such a minor story.

Update--2:39pm EST: I take it back. They're broadcasting Blake again. Time to watch something important, like Jerry Springer.

...OTOH, it's CNN (and Larry King in particular) that are obsessing over the Laci Peterson mystery -- Larry practically salivates. Disgusting.

John,

I live in Dublin, Ireland.
When I was 7 years old my father took a trip into town to get his hair cut!

Two hours later our front windows blew in and showered my mother and I with glass. My father arrived in the door and his ears were bleeding a little. He said "I just turned around onto Summer Hill..... and the street behind me exploded!"

This took place a long time ago. It is exactly as it happened for me and I can remeber how frightened and relieved and angry and even exited I was then.

I can't understand the mentality of the men who planted those bombs,

They blew a whole street of people to pieces so small that many people were placed in plastic buckets for removal.

These guys were evil in every sense of the word they turned out to be Loyalists terrorists who had been backed (for good or bad...mostly bad) by the British Army.

My suggestions for destroying terrorists......

You have to do eventually what is hardest to do. If you jail them they organise...
if you kill them they become martyrs....
ten will step forward to take there place.

If you give them reason enough they try to destroy your civilisation....

You are left with only one choice.

You talk to them.

Now Irelands troubles are at an end thankfully. But it seems that where we started off with mediocre terrorists the US now finds itself with the big brother of terrorists. Evidentally whole nations of people seem to be hammering at the US's door demanding vengence for something or other.

The first three questions I'd ask is the one I asked when that bomb exploded "What do they want? why did they do this? how can we make them stop?"

Maybe they want something that wouldn't cost anything? Maybe they done it because they see me as an enemy...well what have I done? If I don't know about it I must have done it inadvertantly."

Maybe the good people of the US should stop and ask these questions before you take fingers to keyboad one day and write me a long letter telling me you whee there when some lunatic set off a nuke in Chicago or London or even Baghdad!
