That sound you are hearing
is the derisive laughter coming from Trent Lott's office. It seems that Jumpin' Jim Jeffords is trying to get back into the good graces of the GOP again, provided he gets to keep his committee seat. Needless to say, the offer was declined. There is one thing we have to thank Benedict Jeffords for, though. Thanks to his peerless efforts, Vermont will be the one state of the union that will have absolutely no federal pork-barrel projects. Welcome to the minority, buddy!
